MARRIAGES
This morning, at Sculcoates Church, by the Rev. Mr. Moxon, I. B. Tuke, Esq, late Alderman of Beverley, to Mrs. Brown, relict of the late Thomas Brown, Esq. of Albion-Street in this town.
On Sunday last, at St Mary's Church, Mr. R. Hodgson, grocer, to Miss Tadman, eldest daughter of Mrs. Tadman, of Salthouse-lane, in this town.
On Friday last, at Horncastle, Mr. Clarke, excise officer, at this port, to Miss Ramphlin, of Horncastle.
On Tuesday last, at Londesbro', the Rev. E. W. Stillingfleet, B.D. of Hotham, and Fellow of Lincoln College, Oxford, to Dorothy Cordelin, eldest daughter of the Rev. Andrew Ewbank, Rector of Londesbro' and Burghwallis, Yorkshire.
Lately, at Gretna Green, Jesse Ainsworth, jun. Esq. son of Jesse Ainsworth, Esq. of Wickenhall, to Hannah, the youngest daughter of Mr. Robert Lees, and niece of Colonel Lees, of Oldham. The lady was, on the same day, made a ward in chancery, and it is likely to become a question of some importance to the parties, whether the Scotch blacksmith or the English lawyers obtained the priority in point of time.
On the 12th ult. at Deptford, Mr. D. Berton, to Miss H. Sagg, daughter of Mr. Sagg, surgeon, of Malton.
On the 26th ult. at Chichester, Watkin Homfray Esq. of King's Hill, Monmouthshire, younger son of the late Samuel Homfray Esq. of Coworth House, Berks, to Eliza Lee Thompson, only daughter of the late Thomas Lane Thompson Esq. of Nottingham-place, and grand-daughter of Henry Lee Esq. of North Wales, Chichester.
DEATHS
On the 7th ult. aged 83, Alice Morrell, mother to Mrs. William Irving, of this place, merchant.
On Friday last, a Bawtry, after a protracted illnes, which she bore with true Christian patience and resignation, aged 23, Miss Anne Hollingworth, daughter of Mrs. Hollingworth, of Crafton Hall near Wakefield. A last effort was about to be made to save her, by placing her under the first medical care in the metropolis, but the hand of death arrested her progress, and left her friends to bewail the loss of greater excellence and higher accomplishments than are usually to be found united in the same person.
On Saturday morning, in the 81st year of his age, much and deservedly respected by his numerous friends, Mr. Isaac Batty, of Witham, corn-factor.
On Saturday last, after a short illness, much lamented, aged 45, Fanny, the wife of Mr. Jos. Atkin, of this place.
On Tuesday last, aged 46, Mrs. Rea, wife of Mr. James Rea, of the White Hart Tavern, in this town.
On Mondat last, after a long and painful illness, which he bore with exemplary patience, aged 20, Edward, son of John Weddall, Esq. of Pocklington.
On Friday last, at Guisbrough, the Lady of the Rev. Henry Ingilby.
On Sunday last, aged 18, William, second son of Mr. William Hargreave, of Leeds, tobacco-manufacturer and hop merchant.
At Scone, near Edinburgh, the seat of his brother-in-law (the Earl of Mansfield) the Very Rev. George Markham, D.D., Dean of York, and Rector of Stokesley, in this county. He was the second son of the late Archbishop Markham; and was appointed to the Deanery in 1802.
On Saturday se'ennight, in a fit of apoplexy, while cheerfully conversing in the midst of his relatives, aged 63, John Hunter Esq. of the Hermitage, Northumberland. Same day, Mr. A. Surtees, of Delves, steward to the above.
On Thursday se'ennight, her Grace the Duchess of Newcastle. On the Tuesday, her Grace was delivered of twins, a boy and a girl; the girl was still-born.
On Tuesday se'nnight, Miss Eleanor Smith, only surviving daughter of the late Christopher Smith, Esq. formerly of Kirkgate, in Leeds.
On Friday week, Viscount Frankfort de Montmorency, one of his Majesty's most Honourable Privy Council.
On the 11th ult.at Merges, near Lausanne, in Switzerland, Charles, the youngest son of Col. Dixon, of Rainham, in Norfolk, and formerly of Gledhow, near Leeds. The death of this fine young man was occasioned by his gun going off accidentally, while he was stepping into his carriage, by which the whole charge was lodged in his side below the heart.
On the 18th ult. at the Vicarage, Grinton, Yorkshire, the Rev. T. Edmondson, Vicar of that place, and Master of the Free School, Fremington.
On the 21st ult. at Cheltenham, William Erskine, son of the Rev. H. Fraser, M. A. Rector of Woolwich, and nephew of the Earl of Buchan.
On the 23d ult. at St. Andrew's, the Rev. William Crawford, D.D. Professor of Moral Philosophy in the University there.
On the 26th ult. after a lingering illness, at Ramsgate, where he had gone for the recovery of his health, the Rev. John Owen, A.M. By his death the Bible Society will be deprived of one of its Secretaries, and most valuable Members.
On the 26th ult. James Griffiths, Esq. of Stamford-hill, Middlesex, of Doctors' Commons, London, aged 38 years, one of the Common Council of London.
